The Cité de la Musique (City of Music), in the late-modernist La Villette park, is one spectacular success among former President Mitterrand's ambitious public works projects. The Cité is a postmodern structure containing exhibit space, classrooms, a café and a museum shop, and, most importantly, concert spaces featuring vocal and instrumental classical music, jazz and world music.
