Whilst the 14th of July is celebrated throughout France, Bastille Day has special meaning in Paris. In the morning, there is a military parade on the Champs-Elyse, shown on all French TV channels. In the evening, a fireworks display is organised, usually in the Champs de Mars at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Throughout the day, French flags fly and echoes of the Marseillaise resound everywhere. Do not miss the Fireman's Ball, held in all Paris's fire stations on the evenings of the 13th and 14th of July. Admission is free.
