Believe it or not, Montmartre is the wine-growing area of Paris. This romantic quarter was once thick with acres of vineyards and has hosted this annual grape harvest festival since 1937. There are still thriving vines on a few of the streets. This Dionysian event features the obligatory wine tasting, a parade and a large gathering of wine growers, experts and lovers. In the evening, there's a variety show, feast and ball. The event is free and occurs on the first Saturday of every October.
